The College of New Jersey is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) www.msche.org. The College of New Jersey’s accreditation status is “accreditation reaffirmed.” The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status was its reaffirmation in 2015. The next Self-Study evaluation is in 2024-2025. MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
The following programs are accredited/approved by specialized, programmatic organizations:
- Teacher Preparation: The College of New Jersey presently holds accreditation through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). In addition, The College of New Jersey School of Education is a member of good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). The School of Education is working toward accreditation of its educator preparation programs under the AAQEP standards with an anticipated Quality Assurance Review in Spring 2023.
- Counseling: The Master’s degree programs in Counseling are accredited by CACREP (cacrep.org).
- Music: The College of New Jersey is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
- Art: The College of New Jersey is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
- Business: Programs in the School of Business are accredited by AACSB—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
- Engineering: The Bachelor of Science programs in Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Science are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
- Computer Science: The BS program in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
- Nursing: The BSN, Master’s, and post-graduate APRN certificate program in Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
- Public Health: The College of New Jersey is an applicant for CEPH accreditation of its Bachelor of Science in Public Health and MPH programs. The anticipated decision date is March 2023.
- Chemistry: The BS program in Chemistry is approved by the American Chemical Society.
