Accreditation

The College of New Jersey is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) www.msche.org. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status in 2015 was to reaffirm accreditation. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2024-2025. MSCHE is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to conduct accreditation and pre-accreditation (candidate status) activities for institutions of higher education including distance, correspondence education, and direct assessment programs offered at those institutions. The Commission’s geographic area of accrediting activities is throughout the United States.

The following programs are accredited/approved by specialized, programmatic organizations:

  • Educator Preparation: The College of New Jersey School of Education is a member of good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), a national organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
  • Counseling: The Master’s degree programs in Counseling are accredited by CACREP (cacrep.org).
  • Music: The College of New Jersey is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
  • Art: The College of New Jersey is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
  • Business: Programs in the School of Business are accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
  • Biomedical Engineering – The Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Bioengineering and Biomedical and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
  • Civil Engineering – The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Civil and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
  • Computer Engineering – The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s), and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
  • Electrical Engineering – The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s), and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
  • Engineering Science – The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Engineering, General Engineering, Engineering Physics, and Engineering Science.
  • Mechanical Engineering – The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Mechanical and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
  • Computer Science: The BS program in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET, http://www.abet.org.

  • Public Health: The Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree programs in public health are accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), https://ceph.org.
  • Chemistry: The BS program in Chemistry is approved by the American Chemical Society.
